It's not summer yet, dammit!

Between the 34C weather and yesterday's overexertion (I knew I was overdoing it ... ), I spent most of today feeling like a limp rag. The Boyo seemed to feel much the same way. The Cushing's disease is progressing and he is not coping with heat at all well. And this summer looks to be a snorter.

We installed a ceiling fan in the living room (hottest room in the house) last summer, there's a tall fan in the main part of the house and small ones on our bedrooms but we're thinking of adding a low one in the main area so he can lie in front of that. He likes to lie in front of the one in my bedroom which would be fine - except I'd rather not encourage him to lie on the nice silk rug.

I also looked up cooling pads for dogs and found a couple of possibilities. He has a check up next week so Mum's going to ask the vet for any recommendations. I can remember summer days when I would have liked something along those lines myself!

(When did The Boyo start getting old? Granted, he certainly doesn't act or look like it - but he's only two years younger than Lady Muck was and Cushing's happens to older dogs. I think my ideas on cattle dog age were skewed by the cattle dog of my childhood who sturdily trundled to age 17, cheerfully unconcerned by deteriorating sight and hearing.)
