Much the usual at the market, Mum found what she wanted at the shops, we found a lovely book for Nephew #1 at the children's bookshop and a birthday or Christmas present for Nephew #1 at the excellent toyshop. I also found a hedgehog.
A soft, fluffy, palm-sized creature who looks like he want to give you a hug. He is adorable and I shall call him William.
And if you haven't readsunsetmog's delightful Brendon/Spencer Napoleonic war/Steampunk AU, A Presumption of Functionality (with bonus hedgehog) I recommend you do so.

It is weird to think how exotic our native animals might look to others, isn't it? To me, European animals are the kind of creatures you see in high fantasy novels or classic children's books.
