Okay, I'm going to split my recap into two parts so it's less intimidating to my blurry brain.

It was pouring rain on Sunday and Pip and I thought we were rather glad the venue had been changed after all! The original Soundwave Revolution venue was a lot closer to us - but it was an outdoor venue. Mud everywhere, no doubt! Anyway, we drove in and took the train the last few stops to avoid parking hassles. Only light rain by then and the view from Luna Park across to the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House is spectacular.

I learned the night before there was to be a signing tent but there was no info on how to get in! I asked when we got there and apparently, tickets went on sale at the venue around midday and Panic sold out in five minutes flat - so I never had a chance, sadly.

We saw plenty of fans in various band t-shirts, several guys in the lycra bodysuits (which continue to baffle me. One guy was wearing matching baggy shorts over the suit, presumably in an effort at modesty. I just ... what?) and a girl wearing a dark pink furry cat ear hood ... thing. Yes, just like Gerard's! I had trouble not cracking up at that. My own outfit was rather less interesting. Just my skinny jeans, purple turtleneck, black jacket plus sparkly earrings and eyeshadow. Pip, however, was wearing her favourite 'concert' dress - a khaki shirtdress with many pockets (so no need of handbag) that hit her midthigh with a black lace frill around the hem, a black long-sleeved top underneath, black leggings and very intimidating black, knee-high, lace-up boots that put her at 6' or more. In my sturdy boots, I was maybe 5'3". *is amused* We make a pair.

Anyway, we got there just in time to hear the tail end of This Providence and then we went up to the balcony so I could sit down and we watched Story Of The Year. Okay, their music was definitely not my thing but they were damn good performers. Even without being keen on the music I was caught up. So was Pip. And those guys never stopped moving, I swear. Leaping and jumping and climbing on the speakers - I imagine it was something like seeing several Frank Ieros at once. The crowd was very active - it was a great view of the stage and the crowd from where we were and we saw about a dozen 'death circles' open up during the set. I hadn't heard of death circles but Pip told me if she's in the pit and sees one opening up, she heads in the opposite direction immediately!

After that were Face to Face - there was one stage divided into two and one band would be setting up while the other played. They didn't grab us so we took a break from the noise and waited for Yellowcard. Pip said she'd go into the crowd for that one while I stayed back or went upstairs again. I liked their set but it didn't stick with me except for two Points of Awesome:

1) They had a violinist. A thrashing violinist with a cherry red violin. Awesome.
2) They had a gorgeous, sweaty, half-naked drummer. HI, LP! Apparently Longineu Parsons III likes to drum without a shirt on.

Ahem. So that was fun! Pip came back and we had some incredibly mediocre pizza to keep us going, were mostly unimpressed with Young Guns, then we went into the crowd together for All Time Low so I could see if I could cope with it for Panic (Pip said there were plenty of short people so it shouldn't be too bad.) All Time Low ... I think that for their fans, it was probably a really good show. But for us, the banter and the music missed the mark.

And they were collecting bras. They seemed to be asking for girls to throw them bras which they then draped over their microphone stands. I don't get it. Pip and I discussed this in some bemusement because who the hell can afford to throw away a perfectly good bra? (See, we were less inclined to consider the 'why?' of either side than the financial consideration. The bra I was wearing that night cost $114. Catch me throwing it away! My cheapest is $80 ...)

Of course this did lead me to later consider what might have been thrown on stage when Panic's been performing ... which led to thoughts of bb!Panic being flustered and laughing at the bras, daring each other to try them on and, naturally, one (or more) of them discovering a crossdressing kink ...

We stayed in the crowd until a surge pushed us too close to the speakers and my chest started to hurt. We then went back up to the balcony, watched the rest of their set and part of D.R.U.G.S (too much screaming) until it was time to get back in the crowd for Panic!
