Day 10

In your own space, talk about a creator. Show us why you think they are amazing. It can be a detailed, thoughtful analysis, or a squeeful, joyful post. Or maybe a combination of the two. Make a recs list, link to their archives or master lists or websites, maybe create a Fanlore page for them. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

When I started reading Avengers fic, I was fortunate enough to stumble over [archiveofourown.org profile] scifigrl47's early on. Her stories are an amazingly addictive mix of crack, fluff and devastating emotion. Who knew a story about Steve instituting a chore roster, Tony ordering Roombas to get out of sweeping the kitchen floor and Stark Hugging Duty could be so touching?

AND THERE ARE SENTIENT FLYING ROOMBAS OKAY?!?! AND THE TOASTER IS FEUDING WITH THE BREADMAKER!!!

In Which Tony Stark Builds Himself Some Friends (But His Family Was Assigned by Nick Fury) and Phil Coulson's Case Files of the Toasterverse (or just 'the Toasterverse') are fantastic and they have two of the most delightfully adorable OCs ever in Drew and Shawn (I won't call Harris adorable, he might bite.) The emotion sneaks up on you in that verse but in Tales of the Bots it hits you right away. I cried in the first part of The Act of Creation Will Be Your Salvation when Tony creates his first successful AI. Oh Tony. Oh Dummy.

I still don't understand Tumblr (it seems like a very awkward place to have a conversation) but I keep track of scifigrl47 for the little one-shots and WIPs that haven't made their way to AO3 (I am so looking forward to the completion of Phil Coulson Was Not Grown in a Lab (He Has a Mom) but another fic has to be finished first.)

Her fics always make me laugh even when they've made me cry.

Only a few weeks after discovering the Avengers in MLP form, a Snowflake rec post (which I can't link to, thank you LJ ha!) has led me to the Avengers in dragon form. Loki!dragon made me laugh-snort so suddenly my mother was a bit alarmed.

I'd say life is awesome but I'd like my head to stop swooping first.

P.S. Also, my jaw hurts because when I was pulling up my bra strap earlier, I lost my grip and hit my jaw with my fist. Ow. My teeth snapped together quite impressively.

You wouldn't think it was a movement I made every day or anything like that ...
venetia_sassy: (MLP // shake it off)

I had an atrocious headache last night and I feel like I'm getting a cold today (but since cold and flu-like symptoms are part of CFS, it's hard to tell right away) but ponies make things better!

The Avengers as My Little Ponies sticker giveaway

Coulson's cutie mark is a taser!!!

If you reblog the post on tumblr you can win a set of Avengers MLP stickers and a full set of Doctor Who MLP stickers as well. There's even a Dalek pony and a Weeping Angel pony! Since I don't have a tumblr, I just bought a set of Avengers stickers from the Etsy store. Where you can find Sherlock and Watson ponies as well.

Awesome. *g*

Have you encountered the Hawkeye Initiative yet?

"How to fix every Strong Female Character pose in superhero comics: replace the character with Hawkeye doing the same thing."

Hilariously awesome.

Have you come across the lovingly hilarious snark of Smart Bitches, Trashy Books? If you want to find good romance to read and great snark of the ones to avoid, this is the place. Bonus, this recent review of the atrocious time travel/mistaken identity 'romance' Tempest in Time is illustrated with 22 gifs of Jeremy Renner. YOU'RE WELCOME.

I just managed to delete this post completely. How did I do that? Never mind, I retyped it and now I have tea and more birthday cake!

Loki tries to invade the Discworld ...

Ankh-Morpork Avenged

... it does not go well.

And a fic in which the Daleks try to invade the Discworld ...

... it does not go well.

Mum laughed herself silly over that one but even the Avengers one made her laugh and she knows nothing about them, she's just a Discworld fan.

I've been reading some wonderfully thoughtful and articulate reaction posts. This is not one of them.

That was really good. So much better than most blockbusters and superhero films.

Squee! )
*flaily hands* There were so many moments! How can I remember them all?! And I don't want to have to wait for the dvd ... I may have to see it again.
venetia_sassy: (101 Dalmatians // happy puppies!)
I SAW THE AVENGERS! IT WAS AWESOME! (APART FROM THAT THING THAT HAPPENED TO THAT GUY, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.)

I STILL CONSIDER LOKI TO BE A TOTAL SHIT.

There was so much! I have to process.

ALSO, AUSTRALIANS ARE BEING CHEATED. WE DON'T GET THE POST-CREDITS SCENE!!! (And I waited!)
venetia_sassy: (Words // levels of insanity)
Okay, I cried. I am a sap. And sad goodbyes, people having to go on without someone they love? Gets me every time.

However, I never really got attached to Steve. He was just ... bland. Generic. I much preferred Chris Evans as Jensen in The Losers. Jensen was not bland.

Peggy was awesome. Need I say more?

Why didn't they cast Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark all along? He's perfect.

Tommy Lee Jones! "I'm not kissing you." *cackles*

I'm not familiar with comics canon but Bucky's fall had to be a set-up for something, right?

I liked Dr. Erskine. *sadface*

Hugo Weaving is always good at bringing the crazy.

The Howling Commandos ruled. "I'm from Fresno, Ace!"

Overall, it was fun but not great. I have a dislike for 'special' characters who come in and take over without any experience. So all Steve's heroics left me rather cold at first. But the fancy tech and explosions were fun.

All the movies except Iron Man felt rather thin. But I suspect with all the main characters together? The Avengers will be spectacular.
venetia_sassy: (Words // levels of insanity)
... well, that was a very silly movie.

I was dubious from the start, despite the excellent visuals, as brash, arrogant, overconfident characters are a definite turn off for me.

But then Jane and Darcy turned up. Especially Darcy. Hee.

I feel Loki was in need of a spanking and a time-out - no, not in the kinkmeme sense. Nasty piece of work.

Clint! Hi, Clint! (He and Thor will be bros, yes?)

Chris Hemsworth has grown up nicely (hi, Chris's chest) but I would have considerable trouble taking him seriously even if he weren't playing a out-of-place god. Same thing with Jesse Spencer and Ryan Kwanten. I will always associate them with soap operas and teenybopper magazine covers.

And Thor has an Aussie accent? Really?

Having watched Iron Man:

RDJ's arms. Guh.

Having watched Iron Man 2:

RDJ's arms. Nghhh.

I felt like I was watching a Doctor Who crossover at times. Cybermen!

Gwyneth Paltrow was excellent as Pepper and I don't usually like her. But wow, Tony and Pepper make great friends but I'd hate to see them as a couple. That would be ... no. Bad idea.

I liked the first Rhodes better. He was cute.

Why do women wear shoes that do terrible things to their posture and make it nearly impossible for them to walk quickly? (Paltrow had to be wearing sneakers in the run-for-your-life scene. They just didn't show them.)

Did I mention RDJ's arms?

Having watched The Incredible Hulk:

WELL, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DOG, DAMMIT?! You cannot put an adorable blue heeler in peril and expect me to forget about it!

Ahem. Will be getting Thor and Captain America tomorrow. May even make it to the movies to see The Avengers.

AND WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DOG?!?!
