Well, I saw Prometheus ...

... the visuals were stunning? I did have to cover my eyes a few times (Note to pregnant women: you probably don't want to see this film) but it wasn't particularly creepy or scary. I think they were trying to say something about birth and death, parents and children, faith and evolution ... but mostly it was a film about a bunch of Very Stupid and Careless People plus one Slightly Smarter and Very Creepy Android.
I think they were supposed to be smart? They were scientists ...
The Thai dinner we had afterwards was better. As were several hilarious stories from Pip's mother-in-law.
(Noomi Rapace was pretty good though. As was Idris Elba although I think he and the crew were in a different film. And Logan Marshall-Green is cute.)
ETA: This spoiler-filled review really explicates what I felt. The more I think about this film, the less sense it makes.

Date: 2012-06-09 04:22 pm (UTC)ETA: I've just remembered that I really dig the much-hated-by-other-Alien-fans Alien: Resurrection. IIRC, I saw it at the theater about 5 or so times. Whether is the slash between Ripley and Call or the OTTness from the director, I can't say. It's one movie I will almost always rewatch when it comes on TV.
However, I did read that review you linked to last night (someone on my Twitter feed linked to it) and, yeah, there seemed to be a lot of missteps and head-scratching moments. So many, actually, that I don't think I'll be ever to enjoy the movie even if I ever get in the mood to watch it (maybe if I watched it with friends? Who knows.)
