*smiles blearily at the world*
Jan. 15th, 2011 11:30 pmNow in hangover stage of the migraine and while I still don't feel wonderful, I feel so much better than I have all week. *happy sigh* I even made dinner tonight (steak and rocket salad, minimise the dressing) which was excellent. And Mum did the washing-up for me this morning and when I thanked her, she said she could think of few more dispiriting things than to wake up after the way I've been feeling lately only to face a sink full of dirty dishes. Quite right.
I was going to watch Babel tonight on SBS but I started watching and it all seemed so bleak and dispiritng that I turned off the TV and went back to my book, Thus Was Adonis Murdered by Sarah Caudwell. The first of her Hilary Tamar books and the first I've read. It struck me as a highly enjoyable cross between Dorothy L. Sayers and Elizabeth Peters. Though I don't think I would recommend it it to those just starting on the British detective novel, you really have to like the style. Georgette Heyer or Agatha Christie to start perhaps.
Being in the mood for Britsh detectives, I'm now having another go at The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.
