Okay, the pastry case seems edible tonight and it didn't leak huge quantities of melted butter all over the place so ... that's good? But I remain DEEPLY DUBIOUS about this. But I'm making the filling anyway.
It wouldn't matter so much - I don't mind the occasional failed experiment - but this is supposed to be a 'feel better' gift for a family friend going through cancer treatment. She expressed a wish for a deep dish, flaky pastry Quiche Lorraine.
Okay, I'm trying. But the huge quantites of lemon-lime curd were easier.
