At this rate, I'm going to become one of those terrifying people who have all their Christmas shopping done before December 1.

(I blame the demise of Borders. Going out to the shops just isn't as much fun anymore.)

There is a certain worry with buying online - it's harder to realise how much you've bought because it's not right there. Then again, trying not to spend my last dollar on presents (usually for Mum) is a perpetual problem ... and I'm always finding things that Mum would like. I have to cover my eyes! And stop browsing on Etsy.

When you're buying for people you know really well, it's scary how it can mount up! 'Oh, they'll love this! But I already bought that ... hey, I'll give them both!' Possibly we need to stay away from the shops, online and off. *g*

I don't do much Christmas shopping - the only one I give a "proper" Christmas present is my mother since she's the only one I spend Christmas with - but this year is the first year in forever that I've managed to get it done before December 1 :-)

I love shopping online but as you say, it's very easy to spend more than you'd planned.

Ah yeah, for me the biggest trap is buying for Mum because a) I know her taste and b) we tend to spoil each other. Every year we say won't but we always do!

Aagh, I have exactly the same problem! It's so much easier to buy stuff online and I don't actually realise how much I've spent until I look at my credit card statement... eesh.

Exactly! I'm not coming home with bags of shopping so have I really shopped?! Although I don't have a credit card, only a debit card so I have an automatic check there.

Eh, there's nothing wrong with being done with Holiday shopping before December. I mean, unless you expect everyone else to be done too. It's rare that I buy actual presents for my family. I'm a total gift card/gift certificate giver. That way, I know how much I spend and rarely (if ever) go over it.

Buying online is soo cool (you can get ANYTHING) and horrible (like you mention in your post, you don't have the physical item so you might feel like you haven't spent much . . . even when you have! /o\)

Oh, and Etsy is d-a-n-g-e-r-o-u-s for your wallet. So many cool and cute things!

Ye gods, no. I'm completely surprised by myself, I wouldn't expect it of anyone else! I usually love shopping for presents (as long as I'm not rushed) but when it comes to my brother ... giftcards rule.

I find I have less and less tolerance and stamina for dealing with Christmas crowds which makes online shopping all the better (not to mention the prices!) But I have finished my Etsy purchases for now. Really. I mean it! Though I still have purchases to make elsewhere ...
