Brendon and Ian took their shirts off!
Brendon said Ian's a good kisser!
Brendon groped himself, sang to Ian's crotch (or his guitar) and sang almost into Dallon's mouth!
Brendon informed us that one of his oldest friends, Spencer James Smith, likes to bang the shit out of everything he can!
Engagement has certainly not dimmed the stagegay.
They were very clearly enjoying themselves and they sounded fantastic. It was awesome.
Bandbandwhat?
Sep. 23rd, 2011 11:46 pmHave you heard Panic's new song Mercenary yet?
I love this band. They have lyrics like 'cuckolds and concubines, dancing in 4/4 time.'
Although after repeated listens to the song, I am now hearing 'collateral damage' as 'conjugal visits' in my head. *facepalm* This is possibly due tolittlemousling and co's interesting interpretation of the lyrics. *g*

Pip and I have determined that we will arrive at the venue in time for This Providence, so we'll be around for Story of the Year, Face to Face, Yellowcard, Young Guns, All Time Low, D.R.U.G.S and then Panic!
In the meantime, I will rest tomorrow, no matter how good I might feel. Rest. Sunday will be a long evening and I don't want to crash too soon!

I know there was something else I was going to mention. Wtf was it?
I do not deal with the outdoors usually
Sep. 22nd, 2011 11:08 pmI started my day in the garden, nearly drenching myself with the hose after the peacock spray attachment came off. Then the laundry door fell off its track. I was thinking, this day is not going to go well. However, I did manage to sort the hose out and heaved the laundry door back into position. After that, barring the dogs being fretful and the cat trying to bite me, things have been okay. We all sat outside for awhile, the cat on his lead so he couldn't run off (not that it stopped him trying) and enjoyed the sun.
Later I remembered to bring the mail in and discovered a package containing The Hush Sound's Like Vines! And I was amused and pleased to see a promotional sticker saying, As seen on tour with Fall out Boy, on tour with Panic! At The Disco all summer! Bandom moments. I'm listening to it now and enjoying it quite a lot.
All-knowing flist!

Mum has arrived safely in Washington. The Qantas strike didn't mees things up too much and she said the worst part of the trip was waiting in line for 1 1/2 hours to get through Immigration at LAX. And some poor child started throwing up in line. But Mum is now happily ensconced with Persia and her two cats.
*
Meanwhile, our cat decided that he has been Deprived of Cuddles these past two days and this had to remedied immediately. While I was wearing nothing more than a towel, having sat down to rest after my shower. Thank you, cat, for sharing your hairs with me and my freshly moisturised skin.
*
Bidding ends in three days. There are some excellent Bandom writers offering fic, take a look!
Need kitten!fic!
Sep. 19th, 2011 11:36 pmClearly these are Mikey's cats, playing with the hamster ball Gerard bought for his future hamster.
... or else, Gerard and Mikey were transformed into kittens (again) and Gerard is having a ball (*facepalm* I wrote that unironically) while Mikey is looking at him like 'Wtf, Gee? Where is this energy coming from? Dude, have some dignity. Shit, you're gonna sprain something.'
Bandom. It takes over your brain.
Animals and engagements
Sep. 19th, 2011 10:44 pmShe had to take the cat to the vet first thing, then deal with the insurance people who were taking their time, we both went to the bank later (with a short stop at the library), then she went back to pick up the cat ...
Poor cat turned out to have an infected puncture wound in his paw. It was so sore they had to sedate him to get a good look, and then an x-ray (no broken bones, thankfully.) Five hundred dollars later, paw has been shaved, wound has been drained, antibiotics and painkillers administered and by tomorrow I have no doubt he will be thoroughly pissed off with me for keeping him inside.
He's grounded for a week. I shudder to think how pissed he'll be by the end of that.

I hear Brendon and Sarah are engaged! Made me go 'wha?' for a moment since Brendon's younger than I am but hey, my best friend wasn't that much older when she got engaged, I suppose ...
Well, I wish them happiness. Although Brendon might just explode if he gets any happier. *coos at them*
HedgehogHedgehogHedgehog
Sep. 10th, 2011 09:17 pmMuch the usual at the market, Mum found what she wanted at the shops, we found a lovely book for Nephew #1 at the children's bookshop and a birthday or Christmas present for Nephew #1 at the excellent toyshop. I also found a hedgehog.
A soft, fluffy, palm-sized creature who looks like he want to give you a hug. He is adorable and I shall call him William.
And if you haven't readsunsetmog's delightful Brendon/Spencer Napoleonic war/Steampunk AU, A Presumption of Functionality (with bonus hedgehog) I recommend you do so.
Five minus one
Sep. 4th, 2011 10:19 pmMCR fires their drummer
I hate to think what it took for them to publically say 'we just want him out of our lives'.

Oddly enough, the other unhappy aspect of the day was discovering that a disagreement between Missy (not there) and Rena has gone to full-on feud. Our Gang of Five may now be a Gang of Four.
( Friends falling out )
Looking back though, it's a pretty logical progression of behaviours we've seen over the years. I had the rather horrifying realisation that Missy was turning into Mrs Scorrier:
'One of the advantages of having led a sequestered life is that you've not until now encountered the sort of woman who can't refrain from quarrelling with all who cross her path. She is forever suffering slights, and is so unfortunate as to make friends only with such ill-natured persons as soon or late treat her abominably! No quarrel is ever of her seeking; she is the most amiable of created beings, and the most long-suffering. It is her confiding disposition which renders her a prey to the malevolent, who, from no cause whatsoever, invariably impose upon her, or offer her such intolerable insult that she is obliged to cut the connection.'
I don't want my friend to turn into that. But I don't want to be friends with a Mrs Scorrier either.
Let this happen!
Aug. 31st, 2011 11:15 pmPhew. Okay. This has kind of been up in the air for a few weeks but I've ordered my ticket and so has Pip and we are going. Yay!
A couple of months ago, it was announced that Panic! would be playing at the Soundwave Revolution festivals in September/October. There was a large line-up including Van Halen as headliners. I really didn't care about any of the bands except Panic! and while a festival ticket was an expensive way to see them, it was better than not! So I asked Pip if she'd like to go, since it did seem like her kind of thing, she said yes, we bought tickets, all good.
Then a couple of weeks ago, Soundwave was cancelled. Supposedly because some unannounced second headliner pulled out. Um, what? People bought tickets based on the existing line-up so I don't get that. Then we heard that there would be smaller fests and shows with some of the original line-up, we just had to wait for details. And wait and wait. But the waiting is over! And Panic! are headlining the new fests!
The one con of the new Counter Revolution:
The venue is less convenient for us.
The pros:
Ticket was two-thirds the price.
Smaller line-up, less crowds, fewer drunks (here's hoping.)
With Panic! as the headliner, there should be a Panic!-friendly audience.
Maybe Brendon will even take his shirt off. Again. *g*
Goodbye Blues and boulders
Aug. 29th, 2011 10:47 pmI didn't get uninterrupted sleep however. Mum was out this morning when our former neighbour stopped by to say hello. It was nice of her to want to catch up, not so much that she came by even though she knew I would be asleep (yes, she said that.) I would have been quite happy to wait until her next trip down here. The dogs made a hell of a racket when she knocked so I had to get up, staggered to the door and we had half an hour of conversation (fairly dazed on my part) and then she left and I went back to bed.
*
Dinner tonight was baked pumpkin, pancetta and sage risotto from Donna Hay's No Time To Cook. Supposedly it made two servings. Hah. We have dinner for tomorrow night as well! It's a very nice dish although I did overcook it slightly (I got distracted.) I've been meaning to make it this winter and now that the weather's starting to warm up, I thought I'd better get on with it!
*
My copy of The Hush Sound's Goodbye Blues arrived today! I'm enjoying it muchly. A couple of the songs aren't quite my thing and the intro was a trifle alarming but overall, I'm glad to have it. So far, Honey and Medicine Man remain my favourite songs but I'm liking Hospital Bed Crawl as well.
*
An item in the local rag today that made me laugh disbelievingly: Basically, a rock fell on a local road and had to removed as rubble.
I don't think I would describe an eighty tonne chunk of stone that took six truck loads to remove a 'rock'. I think I would describe it as a bloody great boulder.
Kale and werewolves and virgins
Aug. 25th, 2011 11:42 pm*
Last night we had spaghetti with brussel sprouts, prosciutto and white wine, an old favourite. Except we didn't have any white wine so I used champagne instead, which worked perfectly well.
Tonight, I made Garlicky Kale with Toasted Coconut, using purple lace kale. The supermarket didn't have any flaked coconut so I used shredded and rather than serving it over millet (which I don't think I've ever seen) I cooked a scant 1/4 cup of the quinoa mix and stirred it though at the end, like I do with the roasted brussel sprouts.
Since the coconut was shredded, I thought I should add it halfway rather than at the beginning but when I pulled out the tray the kale had cooked so quickly and reduced so much, I thought, whoops, although the crispy bits of kale I tried certainly tasted good. I added another few leaves of kale with the coconut, plus some sesame seeds, stirred everything together and put it back in the oven. Stirred again five minutes later and then stirred the cooked grains in five minutes after that.
Mum thought it was okay. I really liked it. The flavours were so unusual and although the coconut was unsweetened the natural sweetness came through in contrast to the kale and soy. The kale was a nice mixture of crispy and chewy and altogther more interesting than the last curly kale I tried. The first few mouthfuls had me going, hmmm, this is interesting but do I like it? Next thing I know I've finished the bowl.

MCR are apparently trying to drive us crazy with the adorable and the werewolves. I strongly encourage the writing of more bandom werewolves. Just for the record.*g*
Yet what do I do when I play in a 'verse that has canonical wolf changelings? I ... make none of the characters wolf changelings. And none of current MCR are changelings at all. *facepalm* Well, except Jamia who's a tiger.
Also in need of attention,

Pan-Bandom Virginfest!
Rude awakenings and Kerrang!
Aug. 23rd, 2011 11:31 pmHow my day started: Take 1
I jerked awake to a loud crash-thump close to my bed. The cat, pissed off with being shut inside, attempted to ... go through the curtain and blinds to the windowsill? Under them? Not quite sure but it didn't work, hence the noise.
Mum retrieved him from my room and I fell asleep again.
How my day started: Take 2
Having had my first cup of tea, I was going to pour a glass of vegetable juice. Took the bottle out of the fridge, started to shake it, whoops, the lid wasn't on properly! There's a wake-up call. On my cream dressing gown, no less.
Fortunately, I was holding the bottle with a finger on the lid, so I was spattered (across my face, my glasses, my dressing gown) as was the floor but it wasn't the drenching it could have been.
(I wasn't sure which of us had been the last to close the bottle but when I told Mum of the incident, she went, 'Sorry! That must have been me.' She also said that as she was carrying her glass of juice out of the kitchen, she managed to slop a good bit of it on the floor. Apparently the juice wants to be free today.)
How my day started: Take 3
The copy of Kerrang I ordered from eBay arrived in perfect condition! I grinned happily at the article and this evening, Mum asked if it was what I'd wanted and I proceeded to babble at her about why they are awesome and how Frank Iero has not aged and Gerard seems to be ageing in reverse and she looked at the pictures, agreed with me and listened patiently until I realised that I was babbling and shut up.
I love my mother. She is not remotely fannish but she is willing to indulge me in it. And she does like Adam Lambert.
The rest of the day:
Has been rather less exciting. Bit of writing, just scribbles really, I couldn't settle into it, but if this damn headache goes away rather than building, I want to type up a bit or two to post.
Also, used the last of the cavolo nero in an excellent recipe:
One Pot Kale and Quinoa Pilaf
This is very nice and the leftovers are delicious cold or warmed up. I've made it with just the white quinoa before but I didn't have it this time. Instead, I used an 'Andean Grain' mix (white, red and black quinoa with amaranth) that I bought at the market a few months ago. I switched the goat cheese for 1/2 cup finely grated parmesan and since I don't have any toasted walnut oil (I've never even seen it) I used olive oil and added a heaped tablespoon of toasted chopped walnuts with the pine nuts. Also, I've never seen a Meyer lemon, I just use a regular one.
... and here I was thinking I'd hardly changed the recipe at all.
Highly recommended recipe
Aug. 23rd, 2011 01:35 am*
Today, there was tidying and writing and cooking dinner and making more lemon-lime curd. I am kind of tired of lemon-lime curd. And Mum asked if I could make extra for her this time. Fortunately, I seem to have found a recipe that produces consistent results.*fingers crossed*
Tonight's dinner! Spaghetti with Sausage and Cavolo Nero. Either the first or second cavolo nero recipe I tried and I love it. Especially with duck sausage. I've tried others but no, duck wins out. I don't change the recipe much, just reduce the spaghetti by half, use two small sausages, not three, and don't add extra olive oil at the end (why?) And even with the reduced amounts, Mum and I barely finished our servings tonight. This is a substantial meal! And the cavolo nero and duck combine to make something quick and simple into something luxurious.

I am pleased to note that, during today's writing, Ray finally had a few words to say. Now I need to google instrument repairs.
Rainbows and dalmatians
Aug. 16th, 2011 11:11 pmPasta with Ruby Chard and Cranberries
I used a mix of rainbow chard and regular silverbeet and, as always, reduced the pasta to 50g per person. Yum. We don't get fresh cranberries here (or if we do, they're hideously expensive) but I do like the dried ones. I hadn't thought to use them in a savoury dish.
*
I gave up on trying to find Kerrang at the newsagents (a couple of places sell it but apparently have no idea as to when they receive it or how far behind the issues are) and just ordered a copy from eBay. Also a copy of The Hush Sound's Goodbye Blues! I was listening to Honey tonight (have you seen

Poor wobbly old dalmatian is getting ever more wobbly. Then she scarfs her dinner and tears around the garden playing ball. And falling over but still. She's always been strange.
The White Mouse, Jedi Knights and ponchos
Aug. 9th, 2011 11:11 pmAustralia's most decorated World War II servicewoman, Nancy Wake, aka the White Mouse, dies aged 98.
*
According to our last census, Australia has 58,053 Jedi Knights.
I wonder how many we'll have this year. And it that a profession or a religion?
Mum and I were decidedly less creative (read: truthful) in our answers. And filling out online was very quick and easy. Much less fuss than on paper.
And now I have to look up squid jiggers. Why do we have 12 of them?
*
Gerard has been writhing around stage in a poncho. Why a poncho? We do not know. See the Poncho Fic Meme for possible answers! Or if you feel there are other members of bandom in desperate need of their own ponchos ...
Some of the posts I didn't make
Jul. 30th, 2011 09:08 pmWinter is usually my best time of year, health and energy-wise. Not this winter apparently and I am Displeased. Mental energy comes and goes, my sleeping pattern has gone to hell (I go days/nights at a time barely seeing daylight) and overall, I feel like crap.
In the midst of all this, my posting has been severely lacking. Some posts that I intended to make (dating back to May) but never managed.
*In May, I went for a short horse ride with friends. The ride itself was fun (very overcast but the rain held off), although I cannot understand the logic in locating a riding school next to a rifle range, but the riding school and nearby restaurant displayed the most incredible management fail and epic bad service I have ever experienced. It was astounding (and very insulting.) However, after lunch we had a softserve ice cream from an ice cream truck (hadn't had one in years) then walked on the beach under grey skies while great black crows swooped through the air. Amazing. And then we saw a free reptile show and got to pat some snakes and lizards. On the way home, we had a very interesting discussion about the compatibility of science and religion. Yeah, the bad service was epic but I don't get to go out very often and I will focus on the good things.
*Searching for something to do with leftover egg whites, I found a glorious whipped cream white cake. Almost like a freshly made cinnamon sugar donut.
*In June, I went to see X-Men: First Class with Pip and immediately understood why fandom was going nuts. I left the movie with five main thoughts: Charles needs a privilege check, Charles and Erik need a relationship counselor, Magneto needs a fashion consultant, where's the Darwin fic and why did they have all the women taking their clothes off? *exasperated* Yeah, I know the answer to that and perhaps this is just me but I didn't think any of them even looked particularly good with their clothes off.
*Browned butter brownies made with cocoa powder are good but made with raw cacao powder they are possibly the most intense chocolate experience I have ever had.
*Brendon Urie likes to take his clothes off! But he kind of fails at stripping.
Brendon: I'm drunk and happy, it's our last show for a while, I'm gonna take my clothes off! ... maybe I should have started with my boots.
Ian: What the hell. *strips*
Dallon: I am not taking my clothes off ... but I will let you lick me and I will carry you off stage so you don't fall on your face.
Spencer: You are all crazy people and I refuse to encourage this. ... who am I kidding? *trolls Twitter*
*Cavolo nero is delicious and I love the farmer's market. Purple carrots will bleed over your hands and stain under your fingernails for two days. Shredded roasted brussel sprouts are delicious, roasted stuffed capsicums are excellent and roasted broccoli is so good, omg, why did no one tell me this?!
*Went to the last of the nearby Borders sales in May.*sadface* I have huge piles of books to read but the lack of mental energy has severely limited my reading the last few months (well, there has been fanfic ...) and I've been rereading various books particularly one paranormal series which has led to ...
*A BANDOM FUSION WHICH HAS BEEN EATING MY BRAIN FOR A MONTH. Psychics! Animal shapeshifters! Gerard sees the future! Frank blows shit up! Gabe is quite possibly a cobra! And now Glam RPF (and Kris) wants in on it too!
*yells at brain* If you will insist on coming up with all this, will you actually cooperate and let me write it down in a way that will make sense to people who are not me?!
